Seaweed as a natural garden fertilizer

We have used seaweed as a natural fertilizer for years.  Annie started using it in the 1990's whilst still living in Scotland, and purchased liquid seaweed or kelp meal from the Henry Doubleday Research Association.  She noticed that it encouraged root growth, the veggie plants were greener, and the veggies grew larger.  She continues to seaweed on her gardens in Maine: as a mulch around fruit trees (and we have never had a problem with it attracting flies), and dried and ground up as a soil conditioner on vegetable beds. If you are interested using seaweed on your garden as a natural fertilizer, there are some great articles out there on the internet to find out more, including this one  https://www.epicgardening.com/benefits-of-liquid-kelp-fertilizer/ At the end of the article is a YouTube video on how to make your own seaweed "tea" as a liquid fertilizer. We will have fresh farmed kelp for sale through May and June.  If you would like to purchase some to try ...

Kelp on the way!

Wow!  We are in awe of how well our first crop of kelp is growing!  Kelp is definitely on it's way!   We will be harvesting throughout May and June (if we leave it beyond end of June it will become "biofouled" with lots of summer critters moving in).   We will be selling FRESH kelp to order but not for human consumption.  This kelp would be GREAT for the garden or for livestock. A limited amount of DRIED kelp will be coming later and that will be for us humans to enjoy!
